CirclesThe Presbyterian Women meet monthly, gathering in "circles," which offer an opportunity to be involved in smaller and more intimate groups. We meet for Bible study, fellowship and mutual support. The circle meetings are the root of PW service projects.If you would like to become an active member of a circle, please feel free to call the church at 706-733-2275. Reid Memorial Ladies Circles Circle No. 5: Evening Circle – Leader: Myra Naglich – 706-868-7983 The circle meets on the third Thursday night of the month at 6:30 p.m., at different locations, light supper, all ages. The group is studying the book “Encouraging One Another.” New members of all ages are welcome. Circle No. 6: Suzanne Morris Baker Circle- Leader Maureen Jones – 706-733-6139 This group meets on the third Monday of the month at 10 a.m. at different homes or Reid Memorial. The group is studying the 2007-2008 Horizons Bible Study; “Above and Beyond- Hearing God’s Call in Jonah and Ruth.” New members of all ages are welcome. An offering is collected for various projects sponsored by the Presbyterian Women and the Church.Seminars and RetreatsThe Presbyterian Women sponsor an outreach women's seminar every January that is open to all women in the community. Special seminars and retreats for the Reid women are also sponsored. The Presbyterian Women also join the women from the other churches in the Northeast Georgia Presbytery for special Presbytery retreats and gatherings.Special GatheringsThe women of Reid Memorial collect Christmas gift items for the Presbyterian nursing homes in Georgia, the Red Cross, and the Veteran's Administration and toiletries for the Augusta Rescue Mission each year.CardsThe Presbyterian Women send welcome cards to the new members of our church, congratulations cards to those members having new babies, and sympathy cards to those suffering a loss of a family member.Service ProjectsService projects are at the heart of the Presbyterian circles for women and Reid is proud of its involvement in various activities through these projects.White GiftsMembers of the congregation donate money to provide goods for Christmas baskets. Names of needy families are submitted by Help Line and by church members. The congregation assists with the delivery of the baskets.Joy DinnerPresbyterian Women enjoy a Christmas dinner, program, and the joy of giving a Thanks Offering for special creative ministries, including medical missions called White Cross.Birthday OfferingThis is an annual celebration of the unification of organized women's work. This is usually a tea where funds are collected for a specified project determined by the Creative Ministries Offering Committee. |
