Women's Ministry

The women of Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church have a vibrant and active ministry through an organization called the Presbyterian Women.

Statement of Purpose

Forgiven and freed by God in Jesus Christ, we commit ourselves

  • to nurture our faith through prayer and Bible study;
  • to study the mission of the Church worldwide; >/li>
  • to work for justice and peace;
  • to build an exclusive, caring community of women that strengthens the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and witness to the promise of God's Kingdom.

Circles

The Presbyterian Women meet monthly, gathering in "circles," which offer an opportunity to be involved in smaller and more intimate groups. We meet for Bible study, fellowship and mutual support. The circle meetings are the root of PW service projects.

If you would like to become an active member of a circle, please feel free to call the church at 706-733-2275.

Special Gatherings

The Joy Gift Dinner and installation of officers is in December. An offering is collected for various projects sponsored by the Presbyterian Women and the Church.

Seminars and Retreats

The Presbyterian Women sponsor an outreach women's seminar every January that is open to all women in the community. Special seminars and retreats for the Reid women are also sponsored. The Presbyterian Women also join the women from the other churches in the Northeast Georgia Presbytery for special Presbytery retreats and gatherings.

Special Gatherings

The women of Reid Memorial collect Christmas gift items for the Presbyterian nursing homes in Georgia, the Red Cross, and the Veteran's Administration and toiletries for the Augusta Rescue Mission each year.

Cards

The Presbyterian Women send welcome cards to the new members of our church, congratulations cards to those members having new babies, and sympathy cards to those suffering a loss of a family member.

Service Projects

Service projects are at the heart of the Presbyterian circles for women and Reid is proud of its involvement in various activities through these projects.

White Gifts

Members of the congregation donate money to provide goods for Christmas baskets. Names of needy families are submitted by Help Line and by church members. The congregation assists with the delivery of the baskets.

Joy Dinner

Presbyterian Women enjoy a Christmas dinner, program, and the joy of giving a Thanks Offering for special creative ministries, including medical missions called White Cross.

Birthday Offering

This is an annual celebration of the unification of organized women's work. This is usually a tea where funds are collected for a specified project determined by the Creative Ministries Offering Committee.
