AdventDuring the four weeks before Christmas we prepare not only for the coming of Christ 2000 years ago, but for His coming today and His coming at the end of time.Christmas EveWe have a family service December 24, at 5:30 p.m. with a Christmas Pageant, and a festival candlelight service at 11 p.m. with Communion.Ash WednesdayThis service marks the beginning of Lent with confession of sins, optional imposition of ashes and communionPalm SundayThe celebration of Jesus' arrival in Jerusalem is expressed in music and a dramatic reading of the passion narrative.Maundy ThursdayTo remember Christ's sacrifice for our sin, this is a dramatic service with music and the partaking of the Last Supper.EasterWe have identical services at 8:30 and 11 a.m. with full choirs and communion.PentecostFive weeks after Easter we remember the coming of the Holy Spirit after the Resurrection. Communion is served.Reformation SundayOn the last Sunday of October we give thanks to God for our Reformation heritage.All SaintsOn the first Sunday of November we give thanks to God for all the saints who have died before us, naming the members of our church who have died within the year, and we have communion.Thanksgiving DayIn one of the most moving services of the year, members are invited to stand up in the sanctuary and personally share what they are grateful for. |
