MEXICO WORK MISSION
JUNE 6-15, 2008 The Mexico Work Mission is a personal, “hands on” mission experience in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico, across the border from Eagle Pass, Texas. Volunteer missionaries from throughout Northeast Georgia Presbytery will travel for the 20th year to build houses and participate in activities designed to increase their spiritual fitness. We work with and receive assistance for our house building through Constructores Para Cristo (Builders for Christ), better known as CPC. This is our oldest mission project with more than 900 members from the churches, the Presbytery staff, Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School, and the Student Center at the University of Georgia building 63 much-needed houses. However, please remember this is a hot, labor-intensive ministry. We are pleased that mission workers from previous years volunteer as leaders. Priority is given to first time volunteer builders. The workshop/orientation for this mission is on May 3, 2008, at Friendship Presbyterian Church in Athens, GA. This mission is to build four more houses. Volunteers depart on June 5 and returns on June 16. Applications are on the Mission Bulletin Board in the Atrium and also the bulletin board in Fellowship Hall. All application forms must be in the Presbytery office no later than February 1, 2008.

E-MAIL COMMUNICATIONS
In order to enhance communication, insure that the congregation is informed in a timely manner, and yet minimize costs, the Session plans to make greater use of e-mail. Beginning in December, a summary of each monthly Session meeting will be sent to members via e-mail as well as posted in the Fellowship Hall promptly following the meeting. Further, we would like to propose that usher and greeter reminder cards be sent via e-mail to those members that have e-mail addresses. Those members of the congregation that do not have e-mail addresses will still receive the usual post card reminder. For this effort to be successful, the church records must contain the correct e-mail addresses. Accordingly, we ask that you keep the church office informed if you change your e-mail address.

Last Modified by: David Skelton on Mar 28, 2008 Celebrate Your BlessingsCELEBRATE YOUR BLESSINGS God has blessed you with gifts and deeply desires you to share those blessings. We have a significant need for adults to be involved in our ministry to children and youth. Our children and youth need adults who will spend consistent, meaningful time with them. Mentors/Advisors are needed to help in fellowship and special events. A commitment of a year is asked in order to facilitate adequate trust and relationship building. However, there may be some opportunities that may only require a partial year’s commitment. Our ministry is not about programs, it is about relationships. We seek to go beyond building relationships between students and adults but to use those relationships to strengthen our connection to God. We don’t believe that special qualifications are a requirement to be an advisor, just a desire to care for youth and a willingness to have God work through them. See our Ministry Opportunity Board in the Fellowship Hall or Matt Henderson to volunteer.
