Our Facilities

Let's begin our tour of Reid Memorial's facilities by looking at the Congregational Life Center (CLC). Completed in 1994, the focal point of the main floor is the 6,695 square foot gymnasium. For recreational purposes, the gymnasium contains a regulation NCAA basketball court. In addition, the gym floor is lined for volleyball and shuffleboard. The gym features a "floating" floor which is particularly comfortable to play on. Built-in bleachers seat approximately 150 spectators.

Just off the gym is a full production kitchen. The Congregational Life Center can be divided into six configurations to accommodate groups from 100 to 450 people and simultaneous activities. Our family fellowship dinners are in this building, as well as numerous community events.

Located on the second floor of the Congregational Life Center is a 756 square foot Aerobics Room. The room is mirrored on two sides and features a permanent barre.

The main floor also contains restrooms and locker and shower facilities which may be entered from the gymnasium.

Church offices are located across the atrium, providing easy access. For small meetings, the Conference Room seats 20 people. The second floor of the Administrative Building features the Choir Room, which adequately seats 75 people. This area is available for rehearsals, teaching sessions, Bible studies, and performances by musical ensembles.

The Education Building features 23 classrooms, accommodating from 15 to 50 people. The education building is home to the Mothers' Day Out and Preschool program of Reid Memorial, as well as the nursery, preschool, elementary, youth and adult divisions of the church's Christian Education program. The education building also houses the Fellowship Hall, which is large enough to seat 150.

Located adjacent to the Fellowship Hall is the Church Library. With approximately 4,700 books under the Dewey Decimal System, the Library provides an atmosphere conducive for reading, studying, research, meditation and pleasure. The Resource Room, also adjacent to the Fellowship Hall, contains the church's audio/visual collection. The church's parlor, the Mary Read Room, is also located in the Education Building.

The Sanctuary and Chapel are the heart of Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church, where generations have worshiped for nearly 100 years. Tours are available to provide study of the significant points of our history and provide an understanding of the Christian symbolism in our church building. The Sanctuary accommodates 450 worshipers.

The Courtyard, located between the Administrative Building and the Fellowship Hall, provides a quiet place to pray, read your Bible, or visit.

The Alan Fuqua Center is located next to the church. This 1848 Greek Revival house is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as "Montrose." The home was purchased by Reid Memorial in 1973 through the generosity of Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Fuqua, in memory of their son, Alan. The house is unaltered architecturally since construction, and consists of 17 spacious rooms. It is used for receptions, youth meetings, scouts and other church and community affairs.
